The History of Independent Japanese Animation

The Embassy of Japan was pleased to host Mr. Chris Robinson for a lecture and film on the history of independent Japanese animation, which was attended by over 60 people.

 

In his opening remarks, Ambassador Kaoru Ishikawa referred to the global following of Japanese animation. "The words anime, manga, Japanimation are now part of the English lexicon," mentioned the Ambassador. "Whether it is of Japanese origin or not, art and culture have no borders."
