On November 14, the Embassy of Japan and the Ottawa Chinese Go Club presented the 2010 Embassy Cup Go Open Tournament in the auditorium of the Embassy of Japan. The event attracted approximately 60 enthusiastic Go participants from not only Ottawa but also from other cities such as Montreal, Sherbrooke, and Quebec City . It was a heated competition between participants of different nationalities, irrespective of age or gender who shared a common interest in Go. The tournament consisted of seven different groups, from beginner to advanced, and the participants enjoyed playing Go in a very friendly atmosphere.

At the awards ceremony, Mr. Sadamoto, Cultural Attache at the Embassy, mentioned that although it is difficult to trace the roots of Go which is thousands of years old, today's tournament clearly indicates the popularity of Go throughout the world.
