Ambassador Nishida's Farewell Reception

 

Ambassador Nishida and Mrs. Keiko Nishida hosted a farewell reception at the Ambassador's residence on July 15th, 2010. The reception was attended by approximately 340 distinguished guests. The couple spoke to each of the guests, exchanging thanks and good wishes after 3 years and 4 months in Canada.

The program for the evening included a piano performance and the national anthems of both countries performed by a soprano singer. Ambassador Nishida made some final remarks, reflecting on his time in Canada and sharing some of his fond memories. The Honourable David Tkachuk and The Honourable Bryon Wilfert (co-chairs of the Canada-Japan Inter-Parliamentary group) also gave speeches and wished him success in his next posting.

Ambassador and Mrs. Nishida expressed gratitude for all the support and friendship they have received throughout their time in Canada and spent the rest of the evening talking with the guests.
