Call for participants in the Ship for World Youth Program provided by the Government of Japan

OTTAWAON – The Embassy of Japan is pleased to provide the following information about the Ship for World Youth Program.

The Government of Japan, with assistance from the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada, is seeking participants for its Ship for World Youth Program (SWY).

In the SWY, 140 Japanese youths and 132 international youths from 12 countries around the world live together on board a ship from late January to early March in 2012.  This will provide delegates with an opportunity to study and discuss common issues from a global view point and to carry out exchange programs with the local youths at various ports of call (Chennai in India and Colombo in Sri Lanka). The SWY will start in Japan, including orientation, homestay, and pre-departure training sessions.

Applications are now being accepted by the Canadian Ship for World Youth Alumni Association(CSWYAA) until August 18th, 2011 for a National Leader (1 delegate) and August 26th, 2011 for Participating Youth (10 delegates).

Ottawa-Gatineau Information Session provided by the CSWYAA will be held at the Auditorium of the Embassy of Japan on Friday, August 19th at 5:30 pm. See the website: http://www.swycanada.org/apply_for_swy.html
