Embassy Expresses Gratitude for Messages of Sympathy

Since news broke of the earthquake and tsunami that has devastated Japan the Embassy has received a tremendous volume of messages of sympathy and encouragement, and offers of assistance, from all of our friends here in Canada, including the Governor General of Canada, His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston; former Governor General Madam Michaelle Jean; and the Right Honourable Prime Minister Stephen Harper. The Embassy of Japan has been receiving inquiries regarding making donations for disaster relief and is aware that organizations such as the Canadian Red Cross and Rogers Communications are collecting funds for victims and we are very grateful to all who are making donations. The Embassy is also collecting donations which will be sent to the Japanese Red Cross. Please see here for more details.

We would like to take this opportunity to reiterate our deep gratitude and sincere appreciation to them all.
