Ambassador Yamanouchi's Official Visit to the Province of Prince Edward Island and the Province of New Brunswick

Ambassador Kanji YAMANOUCHI paid an official visit to Prince Edward Island (PEI) and New Brunswick (NB) from November 28 to December 1. This was his third and fourth official visit to provinces since his arrival in Ottawa in May 2022 and followed his visit to Manitoba in September 2022.
In PEI, Ambassador Yamanouchi met with the Honourable Dennis King, Premier of PEI, the Honourable Antoinette Perry, Lieutenant Governor of PEI, the Honourable Colin LaVie, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of PEI, and Mr. Dan Kutcher, Mayor-elect City of Summerside. During these meetings, Ambassador Yamanouchi exchanged views on the further promotion of the tourism industry and clean technology between Japan and PEI.
Ambassador Yamanouchi also exchanged views on Anne of Green Gables with the Confederation Centre of the Arts and visited the factory of Sekisui Diagnostics PEI Inc., a Japanese company that produces medical testing reagents and other products.
In NB, Ambassador Yamanouchi met with the Honourable Blaine M. Higgs, Premier of NB, the Honourable Arlene Dunn, Minister of Aboriginal Affairs, Minister responsible for Economic Development and Small Business, Minister responsible for Opportunities NB, Minister responsible for Immigration, and the Honourable Bill Hogan, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development. During these meetings, Ambassador Yamanouchi exchanged views on the further promotion of the energy industry and youth exchanges between Japan and NB.
Ambassador Yamanouchi also visited the Canadian Institute for Cybersecurity (CIC) in the campus of the University of New Brunswick (UNB) and visited facilities that export food products to Japan: the plant of the McCain Foods in Florenceville, which produces French fries and other products, and the plant of the Westmorland Fisheries in Cap-Pelé, which processes lobster and other products.
