Ambassador Yamanouchi's Official Visit to the Province of Saskatchewan

Ambassador YAMANOUCHI Kanji paid an official visit to Saskatchewan from August 8 to August 10, his first official visit to provinces since his arrival to Ottawa in May 2022.
 
On August 9, Ambassador Yamanouchi met with the Honourable Scott Moe, Premier of Saskatchewan, and the Honourable Randy Weeks, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, and attended a luncheon hosted by the Honourable Tim McLeod, Provincial Secretary. During these meetings, Ambassador Yamanouchi exchanged views on the further promotion of trade of wheat, canola and potash from Saskatchewan, as well as the potential for collaboration between Japan and Saskatchewan in the energy sector.
 
On August 8, Ambassador Yamanouchi met with President Jeff Keshen of the University of Regina, and had discussions on the promotion of student exchanges. On August 9, he met  with Mr. Chris Dekker, President of the Saskatchewan Trade and Export Partnership (STEP), Ms. Sandra Masters, the Mayor of Regina, and members of the Regina Japanese Cultural Club.
 
On August 8, Ambassador Yamanouchi visited the Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) facility attached to the Boundary Dam Power Plant in Estevan, in the south of the province, and on August 9, he visited G3 Canada Limited's grain elevator in Pasqua, near Regina.
