Conferment of the Ambassador’s Award upon Mr. Taiji Yoshino

On March 28, 2024, Ambassador YAMANOUCHI Kanji conferred the Ambassador’s Award upon Mr. Taiji Yoshino, President of the Japanese Researchers Association in Ottawa.

At the ceremony, Ambassador Yamanouchi delivered remarks and paid tribute to Mr. Yoshino for his strong leadership as the President of the Ottawa Japanese Researchers Association since 2017.
The Ottawa Japanese Researchers Association plays a role in building a community of Japanese researchers in the Ottawa region, creating a forum for sharing science and technology trends in Canada, and helping to promote Japan's science and technology policies in Canada. All these activities contribute to the promotion of Japan's science and technology diplomacy, and their contributions were praised.
Mr. Yoshino has also served as the chair of the selection committee for the Japanese Government Scholarship Program (MEXT Scholarship Program) since 2022. The Ambassador expressed his appreciation for Mr. Yoshino's efforts to serve as a bridge to bring Canada's best and brightest to Japan as government-sponsored international students.
 
In response, Mr. Yoshino expressed his gratitude for the award and thanked his colleagues and friends who attended the ceremony.
