39th Japanese Film Festival

2021/12/11
From December 9th to 11th, the Embassy of Japan and the Canadian Film Institute, in collaboration with The Japan Foundation, presented the 39th Japanese Film Festival. For the second year, the event was held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Ambassador KAWAMURA Yasuhisa delivered his opening remarks through a video message shown before the films.

People across Canada had the chance to view the recent films Mixed Doubles (2017) and Bento Harassment (2019).

The Japanese Film Festival started in 1985. Every year, the festival gives the chance to people in the Ottawa-Gatineau region to view a variety of Japanese films. It is one of the most popular annual events for the Embassy of Japan, and it is one of the longest-running events organised by the Canadian Film Institute.
