Online Seminar “Indo-Pacific and Japan–Canada Cooperation under Trump 2.0”

On December 1, the Embassy of Japan in Canada, together with the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada (APFC) and Carleton University, co-hosted an online seminar titled “Indo-Pacific and Japan–Canada Cooperation under Trump 2.0.”
Following welcoming remarks by Associate Professor Stephanie Carvin of Carleton University, Minister Hideaki Ishii of the Embassy of Japan in Canada delivered opening remarks, noting that Japan and Canada have been working together to uphold a rules-based order in the Indo-Pacific region, and that there remains room to further expand bilateral cooperation.
Next, after remarks by APFC Vice-President Ms. Vina Nadjibulla, Distinguished Visiting Professor Akio Takahara of the Tokyo Woman’s Christian University delivered the keynote lecture. Touching upon recent developments in the Indo-Pacific region, he stressed the importance of Japan and Canada working together to promote the rule of law and the establishment of a principled multilateral order in the region.
This was followed by a Q&A session moderated by Ms. Nadjibulla.
