Manga Workshop and Demonstration by Ms. Erica Sakurazawa

On the afternoon of November 12th the Ottawa School of Art and the Embassy of Japan jointly held a manga workshop to a select group of local artists. This interactive workshop was led by Ms. Erica Sakurazawa, a successful manga artist visiting from Japan who is popular for such works as “Angel” and “Makin’ Happy”. Mr. Jeff Stellick, the Executive Director of the Ottawa School of Art acted as moderator, and led an in-depth question and answer period.
Later that evening Carleton University’s School of Linguistics & Language Studies held a manga demonstration, in which Ms. Sakurazawa showed her technique and process for creating her art. Ms. Mami Sasaki, Japanese language Instructor, moderated and led a lively question and answer session.
Ms. Sakurazawa was interviewed by Contact Japan, a local community television programme on Rogers community television and for Midweek, a weekly current affairs radio show on CKCU.
