Conferment of the Foreign Minister’s Commendation upon Ms. Christine Nakamura, Vice-President of the Asia-Pacific Foundation of Canada (APFC)

On December 9, 2024, Ambassador YAMANOUCHI Kanji conferred the Foreign Minister’s Commendation upon Ms. Christine Nakamura, Vice-President of the Asia-Pacific Foundation of Canada (APFC).
At the ceremony, Ambassador YAMANOUCHI delivered remarks, paying tribute to Ms. Nakamura for her many years of leadership in the Japanese government's "Kakehashi Project" in Canada as APFC Vice President, her work in supporting victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake as a board member of the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre (JCCC), her efforts in promoting Japanese studies in Canada as a director of the Prince Takamado Japan Centre for Teaching and Research (PTJC), and her recent efforts to strengthen Japan-Canada economic relations, including leading the Canadian Women's Business Mission to Japan.
In response, Ms. Nakamura expressed her gratitude for receiving the award and stated that she would continue to work to further develop Japan-Canada relations in various fields.
After serving twice as a diplomat at the Canadian Embassy in Japan, Ms. Nakamura joined APFC in 2011 and became Vice President in 2018. Through the Kakehashi Project, she contributes to promoting understanding of Japan and identifying knowledgeable people interested in Japan, and through her activities with the JCCC and PTJC, she also contributes to improving the status of Japanese Canadians in Canada.
