Chamber Concert at Ambassador’s residence

On June 29, Ambassador Kanji YAMANOUCHI hosted a chamber concert at his residence in collaboration with the Friends of the National Arts Centre Orchestra (FNACO). FNACO is a non-profit organization, which raises funds to support the NAC Orchestra as well as to further the education of young aspiring musicians in the Ottawa region and elsewhere. The event was attended by around 60 people including 50 members of FNACO.
 
The performers were Mr. Yosuke Kawasaki, Concertmaster of the NAC Orchestra, Ms. Jessica Linnebach, Assistant Concertmaster of the NAC Orchestra, Ms. Rachel Mercer, principal cello, and Ms. Carissa Klopoushak, violist.
 
The event began with a speech by Ambassador Yamanouchi, in which he mentioned how music is a universal language that brings people together.
 
The performance then began with Maurice Ravel's String Quartet in F major and continued with Felix Mendelssohn’s String Quartet No.5, Op.44 No.3. The concert concluded with Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence by late composer Ryuichi Sakamoto. Each piece was introduced by Mr. Kawasaki.
 
After the concert, Mrs. Christine McLaughlin, President of FNACO made remarks and expressed her appreciation to Ambassador Yamanouchi for hosting the concert.
