Conferment of the Foreign Minister’s Commendation upon Mr. Christopher Clement

On March 16, 2026, Ambassador Koji Yamanouchi presented the Foreign Minister's Commendation to Mr. Christopher Clement, Scientific Secretary and CEO of the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP).
 
At the ceremony Ambassador Yamanouchi delivered an address, reiterating his respect for Mr. Clement's efforts in promoting understanding of radiation protection in Japan since the Great East Japan Earthquake and the accident at the Tokyo Electric Power Company's Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant on March 11, 2011.
 
As the Scientific Secretary of the ICRP, Mr. Clement continuously conducted dialogue seminars with Japanese government officials, local authorities, scientists, and local residents, and dedicated himself to supporting the recovery of areas affected by the accident. Through these activities, he greatly contributed to mutual understanding and goodwill between Japan and Canada.
 
Ambassador Yamanouchi expressed his gratitude for these contributions.
 
In response, Mr. Clement expressed his gratitude for the commendation and thanked his colleagues who attended the ceremony.
