On December 17, the Embassy of Japan hosted an online event “J-POP Talk Night – live talk show with pop music artists from Japan –” in collaboration with the Japan Artist Association to introduce backgrounds of J-POP music and its culture together with five different J-POP artists and groups, namely MIKURO MIKA (Fashion J-POP), Yully (J-R&B), Terra. Ambassador Kawamura Yasuhisa began the event by giving opening remarks, in which he pointed out the unique ability of music to bridge cultural divides. The remarks was followed by a welcome message to the participants by Mr. Gulliver Udagawa, President of the Japan Artist Association (JAA). The main event consisted of five musical artists representing unique genres introducing themselves and their diverse music to a Canadian audience. The audience was also able to hear and watch their music videos, and the event concluded with a lively Q&A session to Mr. Udagawa and the artists, in which viewers expressed their enthusiasm for more events like this in the future.
