Welcome Reception for the Keidanren Canada Mission

On December 1st, 2025, Ambassador Kanji Yamanouchi hosted a reception to welcome the visit of the Canada Committee of the Keidanren (Japan Business Federation) from Japan (Keidanren Canada Mission). The Keidanren Canada Mission included numerous representatives from Japan's economic sector, such as trading companies, manufacturers, and financial institutions. Approximately 80 people attended the reception to welcome the mission, including members of the Canadian Parliament and federal government officials.
 
At the beginning, Ambassador Yamanouchi delivered a greeting, followed by a speech from Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne as the guest of honour. Then after, guest speeches by Masayoshi Fujimoto, Chairman of Sojitz and Co-leader of the Keidanren Canada Mission, the Hon. Judy Sgro, Executive Committee member of the Canada-Japan Inter-Parliamentary Group, and Weldon Epp, Assistant Deputy Minister of Global Affairs Canada, Yuji Akasaka, Chairman of Japan Airlines and Co-leader of the Keidanren Canada Mission, offered a toast. During the reception, meaningful exchanges of information took place regarding the status of Japanese companies expanding into Canada and the political and economic situation in Canada.
