2019 Bonsai Exhibition
2019/9/19
On September 14 and 15, the Ottawa Bonsai Society (OBS) held its annual exhibition at the Information and Culture Centre of the Embassy of Japan. This was one of the most popular events at the Embassy, and about 1,000 people were in attendance. Visitors had the opportunity to appreciate more than 40 beautiful bonsai trees including one which was 200 years old.
At the opening ceremony on September 14, Ambassador Ishikane thanked OBS’s constant support of the Embassy’s activities. In his opening remarks, the Ambassador said that art and culture are key elements that promote exchanges and mutual understanding between our countries and the work of the OBS goes beyond that of a simple hobby, it brings people together through culture and discussions.
On both days, demonstrations were held in the afternoon to offer an opportunity to increase the interest and deepen understanding of bonsai for visitors.
