2024/6/2
On June 1st and June 2nd, the Ohara Ikebana exhibition entitled “The Year of the Wood Dragon”, co-hosted by the Embassy of Japan and the Ohara School of Ikebana Ottawa Chapter, was held at the Embassy’s Information and Culture Centre. Each arrangement reflected the exhibitors’ personal journey with nature. Approximately 1,000 visitors came to the venue and admired each floral arrangement that were carefully and thoughtfully put together, taking photos, and conversing with exhibitors. The visitors also enjoyed the hands-on Ikebana workshop.
At the opening ceremony held on the first day of the exhibition, Ms. Elizabeth Armstrong, President of the Ohara School of Ikebana Ottawa Chapter, welcomed guests. Ambassador YAMANOUCHI Kanji addressed the audience and expressed his heart-felt congratulations to the Chapter for reaching a milestone of 35 years since it took its first steps, laying an incredibly strong foundation for the Ikebana community in Ottawa.
