Ohara Ikebana Exhibition: The Simplicity of Nature
2023/6/4
On June 3rd and June 4th, the Ohara Ikebana exhibition entitled “The Simplicity of Nature”, organized by the Ohara School of Ikebana, was held at the Embassy of Japan. The exhibition showcased fresh arrangements that brightly coloured the early summer season. Over the course of two days, more than 850 people, not only fans of ikebana but also Canadians who saw ikebana arrangements for the first time, visited the exhibition and enjoyed lively conversations with exhibitors.
At the opening ceremony, which was held on the first day of the event, we welcomed distinguished guests including the Honourable Senator Nancy J. Hartling, member of the Canada-Japan Inter-Parliamentary Group. Ms. Wendy Batson, President of the Ohara School of Ikebana Ottawa Chapter, praised the Chapter’s daily dedication and passion for ikebana. Ambassador Kanji YAMANOUCHI gave his remarks and spoke that the works on display not only represent a dialogue between humans and Mother Nature, but also serve as a bridge between Canada and Japan.
