Online Screening of “Ramen Heads”

2020/6/3

From May 29 to May 31, the Toronto Office of the Japan Foundation in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan and the Consulates General of Japan in Canada presented the online screening of the documentary “Ramen Heads” (2018).

The film screening was preceded by a video message by the Ambassador of Japan, H.E. Kawamura Yasuhisa. In his remarks, Ambassador Kawamura mentioned that the food service industry sustained heavy damages due to COVID-19. He highlighted the importance of the food industry and its dedicated workers. He also thanked the people's hard work and passion for delivering food and showed his great appreciation to the many people involved in this process. He noted Japan and Canada’s strong efforts to contain COVID-19 and underscored the many ways our two countries work together during the global pandemic, notably with support towards the development of vaccines and therapeutic medicine. He concluded his remarks by affirming his belief that the unprecedented crisis will be combated by people continuing to persevere in their efforts together.

In relation to the screening, on May 31, the Japan Foundation offered an online ramen seminar given by the owner and Chef of RYUS’s Noodle Bar, Mr. Ryuichiro Takahashi.
