“Early Summer Evening Concert” of marimba and clarinet
2024/5/30
On May 30, Ambassador YAMANOUCHI Kanji hosted a short concert of marimba and clarinet music by Mrs. Mika and Mr. Richard Stoltzman at the ambassador's residence.
Mr. and Mrs. Stoltzman, who live in Boston, have many ties to Canada in various ways. To commemorate their visit to Ottawa, they played a number of memorable pieces which have some relation to Canada, including some original arrangements. Ambassador Yamanouchi also joined in on the piano for a performance of Bach's Prelude and the Beatles' “Imagine”, enlivening the audience.
About 40 participants enjoyed the heartwarming performance of the deep and soft sound of the marimba and the light, extended, and sometimes powerful tone of the clarinet. They applauded and offered a lot of praise to Mr. and Mrs. Stoltzman at the end of the concert.
