Film Screening and Director’s talk “The Zen Diary”

On May 22nd, a film screening of “The Zen Diary” was held at the Information and Culture Centre of the Embassy of Japan. With the cooperation of Momo Films Inc., a company that distributes Japanese movies in North America, Mr. NAKAE Yuji, director and screenwriter of the film also attended the screening. On this special occasion, the venue was a full house with more than 150 people.
Prior to the screening, Deputy Head of Mission, Minister FURUYA Tokuro delivered opening remarks and said that he hopes this food-themed film will lead the audience to be more interested in Japanese culture and food as well as enjoy the film.
After the screening, Director Nakae shared his behind-the-scenes story. He mentioned staff and actors’ sincere efforts to capture each scene at its finest and shiniest moment on film. During the Q&A session, Director Nakae answered various questions which helped participants to deepen understanding of the film and to heighten the interests in Japanese culture and Japanese cooking.
