Virtual School Visit Programme
2020/6/16
On June 11, The Embassy of Japan hosted its first virtual School Visit Programme. At the request of Ms. Jennifer Groulx, leader of the Pathfinders (Girl Guide’s), our experienced staff gave a presentation about the upcoming Tokyo 2020 Olympic & Paralympic Games. The programme was led by Mr. Brandon Wallace, Cultural Assistant at the Embassy of Japan and former JET Programme participant with experience teaching English in public high school in Japan.
The students learned about Japan through the lens of sports. The lesson included practicing radio calisthenics, and learning traditional Japanese sports such as sumo, judo, kendo, aikido, and karate; the latter of which debut at the Tokyo Games. Students also learned about the legacy concepts of the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympics: Sustainability, Inclusive Society, and Reconstruction.
