Japan-Canada Parliamentary Friendship League Visits Canada
Members of the Japan-Canada Parliamentary Friendship League visited Nova Scotia and Quebec from August 18th to 25th. The group was led by Mr. Hiroshi Nakai, who is a member of the Japanese Diet's House of Representatives. The delegation was joined by their Canadian counterparts for their annual general meeting at which an open and active discussion was held featuring topics which included: the political and economic situations in Canada and Japan; Japan-Canada trade relations; global peace and security; the environment and climate change; and energy. Ambassador Nishida met with the group in Halifax and provided them with a briefing on Canada-Japan relations prior to participating in the general meeting. He also accompanied them when they paid a courtesy call on the Hon. Rodney MacDonald, Premier of Nova Scotia.
