On March 19, 2014 the Ottawa Chapter of Ikebana International held the opening ceremony for their 2014 exhibition, Momentum, at the Canadian Museum of Nature.

In his opening remarks, the Ambassador thanked the Ottawa Centennial Chapter of Ikebana International and the Canadian Museum of Nature for their longstanding cooperation for the Embassy of Japan. He also expressed appreciation for the organizers for creating an opportunity for cultural exchange between Japan and Canada through the exhibition.

This was a special year for the Ikebana International Exhibition at the Canadian Museum of Nature, as it celebrated its 30th anniversary. In honour of this occasion, a Tsugaru-Shamisen player, Ms. Ryoko Itabashi gave a spectacular performance at the opening ceremony.

The opening was attended by many ikebana enthusiasts who had the unique opportunity to enjoy the beautiful and distinctive flower arrangements. The exhibition was open to the public until March 23.
