Ambassador Okuda's executive chef competes in the 2014 Embassy Chef Challenge
On September 19th, 2014, Ambassador Okuda’s Executive Chef, Shoji Hamana, took part in the first annual “Embassy Chef Challenge” at the Irish Ambassador’s residence in support of the 3C Foundation of Canada, a charitable organization aimed at enhancing the quality of life for people living with Crohn's disease, Colitis and Colorectal cancer. Ambassador Okuda and Mrs. Okuda also attended the event.
Chef Hamana and other executive chefs from the Embassies of Ecuador, Spain, Ireland, Kazakhstan and Thailand served their signature plates to celebrity judges and over 300 guests.
Chef Hamana’s fresh sushi was a crowd favorite and guests enjoyed his skillful sushi-making performance.
At the end of the evening, the judges selected Chef Desjardins from the Irish Embassy as the winner of the Judge’s Choice Award; while the People’s Choice Award selected by guests went to Chef Velez from Embassy of Ecuador.
The proceeds of this event will be donated to the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario.
