Japanese Film Festival

From the end of October to early November, the Embassy of Japan, the Japan Foundation, the Canadian Film Institute (CFI) and Carleton University co-hosted the 2014 Japanese Film Festival at Carleton University. This is the 32nd Japanese film screening event with CFI and this year more than 600 people came out for the three screenings.

As part of this year’s festival, three films were shown covering a wide range of genres and themes. They included: Until the Break of Dawn (Yuichiro Hirakawa, 2012), The God of Ramen (Takashi Innami, 2013) and Akko-chan: The Movie (Yasuhiro Kawamura, 2012).

In his remarks on the opening day, Minister Karube from Japanese Embassy noted that the festival is a wonderful opportunity for Canadian audiences to get a glimpse of modern Japanese life and enhance their understanding of Japanese culture.
