Ohara Ikebana Exhibition – So-shun

 

On January 25th and 26th 2014, the Embassy of Japan was pleased to host the Ohara Ikebana Exhibition, So-shun (Waiting for Spring) which displayed a variety of beautiful floral arrangements in celebration of the New Year.

 

At the opening ceremony on the 25th, Ms. Elizabeth Armstrong, President of the Ottawa Chapter of Ohara and Ms. Mitsuko Kawasaki, Exhibition Chair, delivered opening remarks. Representing the Embassy of Japan, Ambassador Okuda and Mrs. Okuda attended the exhibition. In his remarks, the ambassador expressed the Embassy’s honour to host the exhibition as the school celebrates its 25th anniversary. He also noted the pleasure of enjoying fresh flowers in winter as it reminds us of the beauty of nature that awaits us in the spring, as conveyed by the title of the exhibition.

 

Over two days, more than 400 visitors of all ages came to see the floral arrangements and enjoyed fragile beauty of flowers.
