2015 Japanese Film Festival

From November 6 to 7, the Embassy of Japan, together with the Canadian Film Institute and the Japan Foundation, co-hosted the 33rd annual Film Festival Japan at Carleton University. During the festival, two films: “A Story of Yonosuke” and “The Floating Castle” were presented.

At the opening of the film festival, Ambassador Monji expressed gratitude to the CFI for its support and cooperation. In his remarks, Ambassador Monji praised the power of film in presenting Japanese culture to international audiences.

During the two-day festival approximately 500 people attended the film festival. On both days, Dr. Mitsuyo Wada-Marciano from Carleton University’s Film Studies department provided important insights as well as a brief historical introduction for each film to help the audience enjoy the screenings.
