JET Pre-Departure Orientation Weekend
On July 4th-5th, the Embassy of Japan held its two-day orientation for departing JETs and alternate (wait-list) JETs. The event is the capstone of a series of pre-departure activities designed to help Canadian JETs adjust to the Japanese working and teaching environment, as well as to prepare them for life in Japan.

Members of the JET Alumni Association of Ottawa (JETAA Ottawa) gave presentations and shared their insights on professionalism, lesson planning, social life, driving, and a host of other topics. The departing and alternate JETs prepared and presented sample lessons to get ready for teaching in Japan.
