JETAA National Conference

On June 5-7 the Embassy of Japan hosted the JET Alumni Association (JETAA) National Convention.

The annual JETAA National Convention is held in a different city each year across Canada where there is a JETAA chapter.  This year, it was held in Ottawa and organized by JETAA Ottawa.  The delegates who attended the Conference included: fourteen delegates from each of the seven Canadian JETAA chapters, three delegates from the Council of Local Authorities for International Relations (CLAIR), and for the first time, two delegates from JETAA USA.

The conference took place at the Embassy of Japan and it included a reception, hosted by Ambassador Monji, and two days of discussion and idea-sharing among the delegates.

JETAA is an association of alumni of the JET Programme, which is a Japanese government-run programme that sends almost two hundred Canadians to Japan each year to work in the Japanese public school system and at local government offices.  The JET Alumni Association plays an important role in sharing Japanese culture with Canadians
