Japan Anime Film Week
From August 21st to 25th, the Embassy of Japan hosted a Japan Anime Film Week at the auditorium.
The movies screened during the Film Week covered a wide range of genres and themes to delight all audiences. Two featured movies “Wolf Children” (2012) and “The Boy and the Beast” (2015) were from the celebrated director, Mamoru Hosoda. It included two notable franchises, Akira (Katsuhiro Ôtomo, 1988) and Strong World: One Piece Film (Munehisa Sakai, 2009). Also presented was the online-turned-feature-film, The Time of Eve (Yasuhiro Yoshiura, 2009).
In his opening remarks preceding Monday’s screening, Ambassador Kenjiro Monji hoped that the audience would appreciate the artistic quality of anime culture and develop a greater interest in Japan’s burgeoning pop culture scene. Drawing from last year’s success, the event attracted about 370 people over the screening of 5 different anime films
