Embassy Cup Go Open Tournament at the Embassy of Japan

On November 6, the Embassy of Japan and the Ottawa Chinese Go Club presented the 2011 Embassy Cup Go Open Tournament in the auditorium of the Embassy of Japan. This year, the event attracted approximately 60 enthusiastic Go lovers from not only Ottawa but also from other cities such as Montreal, Quebec City, and Toronto. A heated competition took place among the participants, who were varied in nationalities, and age. The tournament consisted of seven different groups, from intermediate to advanced, and the participants enjoyed playing Go in a very friendly atmosphere.

At the awards ceremony, Mr. Sadamoto, Director of the Information and Culture Centre at the Embassy of Japan, mentioned how wonderful it was to have participants travel great distances to join the tournament and to see people from different backgrounds interact in the common language of Go.
