Ambassador Ishikawa’s Lecture at Carleton University
Ambassadors Speakers Series
On the evening of February 16, 2011, Ambassador Ishikawa was pleased to participate in the Ambassadors Speakers Series at the Norman Patterson School of International Affairs (NPSIA) at Carleton University.
The Ambassador was introduced by Dr. Fen Hampson, Director of NPSIA. There were more than 80 attendees including: students, fellow diplomats, and High Commissioner of Zambia, Nevers Mumba, head of the Ottawa Diplomatic Association.
In his talk, Ambassador Ishikawa covered the topics of: the reality of globalization, the importance of governance and rule of law, the economics and politics of Japan, and the future of Canada-Japan relations. He cited recent developments in aerospace technology in both Canada and Japan, and the possibility of an Economic Partnership Agreement between our two countries.
Following his talk, many members of the audience engaged the Ambassador in discussions on challenges currently facing Japan such as: an aging population, and the recent political upheaval in Egypt.
To end the event, the Vice-President (Research and International) of Carleton University, Dr. Kim Matheson, presented the Ambassador with a commemorative plaque.
