Sake Tasting

On May 25, 2011, the Embassy of Japan and the Canada-Japan Society of Ottawa (CJSO) held a Sake Tasting event in the auditorium of the Embassy of Japan.

At the beginning of the event, to support the victims of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami, part of admission fees collected from the participants were donated to Ambassador Ishikawa from Mr. Sam Toma, President of the Canada Japan Society of Ottawa.

Ambassador Ishikawa made opening remarks and expressed deep appreciation to the participants for their support and solidarity for the people of Japan. He further stated that Japan will continue to work hard to restore normal life to the people of Japan so that they may hold cultural events such as sake tasking like they used to.

Participants were shown pictures related to sake, and watched detailed presentations by Mr. Sam Toma and Mrs. Yumiko Tsunakawa, Director Dinner Coordinator of the Canada Japan Society of Ottawa. They tasted various kinds of sake and exchanged opinions about the differences in tastes in a very relaxed atmosphere.
