Austrian-Japanese Classical Evening

On June 30, in cooperation with the Embassy of Austria, and the Japan Foundation, the Embassy of Japan presented an “Austrian-Japanese Classical Evening” at the National Gallery of Canada.

Together, Ms. Mayumi Seiler on violin, and Ms. Kyoko Hashimoto on piano performed a beautiful repertoire of Austrian and Japanese composers such as: Mozart, Takemitsu, Hayashi, Schubert, and Kreisler. These two talented musicians, who are based in Canada, have strong bonds with both Japan and Austria.

In their opening remarks, Austrian Ambassador Brandstetter and Japanese Ambassador Ishikawa explained that both countries have collaborated on many fronts including culture and have over 140 years of diplomatic relations.

Approximately 350 music-lovers attended the concert.
