Lecture by Dr. Michiko Hirama on Gagaku, Noh, Bunraku, and Kabuki

 

On July 20, at the Embassy of Japan auditorium, Dr. Michiko Hirama gave a lecture and DVD presentation on the traditional Japanese performance art forms Gagaku, Noh, Bunraku, and Kabuki.

 

Dr. Hirama is a lecturer on Japanese music at the prestigious Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo.

 

The new Deputy Head of Mission, Minister Fumio Yawata, made opening remarks and commented that he has already observed that the people of Ottawa have a keen interest in Japanese culture.

 

Approximately 100 guests attended the lecture and engaged Dr. Hirama in a question and answer period following the presentation.
