New Year’s Party - 2011
The New Year’s Party was hosted by Ambassador Kaoru Ishikawa and Madam Ishikawa at the Ambassador’s residence on January 13, 2011, attended by over 90 guests, mostly Japanese – Canadians and Japanese Nationals.
During the reception, Mr. Jung-Suk Ryu, staff of the Embassy of Japan, performed a piano piece of Chopin, followed by a speech by Ambassador Ishikawa, as well as a toast by Minister Masahiro Fukukawa.
Ambassador Ishikawa, in his speech, shared with the guests the remarkable results of the visit by the Prime Minister Stephen Harper to Japan on occasion of the APEC Summit in Yokohama in November 2010, and the private dinner hosted by Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress for the Prime Minister and Mrs. Laureen Harper during their stay in Japan. The Ambassador also praised the tremendous contribution to Canadian societies by Japanese - Canadians and Japanese Nationals and promised to spare no effort to reinforce the existing friendship between Japan and Canada – and stated that the friendship would grow in the coming year.
Mr. Mitsugi Kikuchi, Master of Ohara school of Ikebana, made a special presentation of flowers, which won immense admiration among attendees of the reception.
