Japanese Ambassador’s Award for Ms. Sachiko Okuda
On July 7th, 2014, Ambassador Okuda conferred the Ambassador’s Award on Ms. Sachiko Okuda, former President and current board member of Ottawa Japanese Community Association (OJCA), for her distinguished service in contributing to the deepening of mutual understanding and friendship between Japan and Canada.
As a Nikkei sansei (Japanese Canadian of the third generation), a former participant in the JET (Japan Exchange and Teaching) program, the co-host and co-producer of Contact Japan, a local TV program which disseminates Japanese news and culture, Ms. Okuda is a well-known figure in Ottawa’s Japanese and Japanese-Canadian communities. She has introduced Japanese culture and society to countless Canadians through her various activities with Contact Japan, OJCA and her long-lasting role in Ottawa’s Japanese community.
In his remarks, Ambassador Okuda extended his deepest regards to Ms. Sachiko Okuda who has played an active and important role in strengthening friendship between Japan and Canada. Ms. Sachiko Okuda expressed her gratitude for the Ambassador’s Award and reaffirmed her wish to further promote the relationship between the two countries.
