Speech by Ambassador Ishikawa at the annual event hosted by

the Lt. Robert Hampton Gray V.C. Chapter of the Canadian Naval Air Group

Ambassador Ishikawa attended the annual gathering hosted November 23, 2011 at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum in Ottawa by the Lt. Robert Hampton Gray V.C. Chapter of the Canadian Naval Air Group. The group has a close relationship with Onagawa in Japan’s Miyagi prefecture and this year’s event was dedicated to the Onagawa Relief Fund.

In an address to those in attendance, Ambassador Ishikawa expressed his sincere appreciation for the support in the aftermath of the disaster provided by Canada, noting that it provided both material assistance to reconstruction efforts as well as the gift of hope during very difficult times. He described the damage suffered in the wake of the earthquake and tsunami on March 11, 2011, and also provided an update on the status of recovery efforts in the region.
