Speech by Ambassador Ishikawa at the Gala Dinner of the Annual General Meeting of the Canadian Red Cross

 

Invited by the Canadian Red Cross, Ambassador Ishikawa attended their Annual General Meeting which was held June 18, 2011 in Quebec City.  At the gala dinner of this meeting, the Ambassador gave a speech to Mr. Ted Tanaka, President of the Canadian Red Cross, Mr. Conrad Sauvé, the Secretary General as well as several members of local Red Cross branches from across the country.  Ambassador Ishikawa expressed his sincere appreciation for all the assistance provided by Canada, beginning by the Red Cross and said that this has allowed the Japanese to advance in their reconstruction while also giving them hope.  By the 18th of June, approximately 35 million dollars has been collected by the Canadian Red Cross to come to the aid of disaster victims in Japan.
