Scientific and technological cooperation between Canada and Japan

     In 2026, Japan and Canada will celebrate the 40th anniversary of their science and technology cooperation. In May 1986, the two countries signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of science and technology. Since then, they have both continuously cooperated in this field.

     Japan and Canada are partners who share fundamental values, and science and technology cooperation forms an important part of this. The excellent cooperative relationship that has developed over the past 40 years is evident not only in activities between government agencies, but also in numerous activities, individual agreements, and human networks between related organizations such as universities and research institutions.

     To commemorate the 40th anniversary, we have compiled information on Japanese researchers active in Canada, as well as events and activities related to science and technology in both countries, which are introduced below.
