Virtual School Visit Program

2021/4/28
On April 28 the Embassy of Japan hosted a virtual lecture on J-Pop and Anime as part of its online School Visit Program. Approximately 28 students enrolled in the International Certificate Program throughout the Ottawa Carleton District School Board participated in the interactive lecture. Students learned about various historical backgrounds on contemporary Japanese popular culture, such as the Tale of Genji, Kabuki theatre, and Katsushika Hokusai. Throughout the event there was also a lively Q&A with the students.

The Embassy of Japan’s School Visit Program operates throughout the year and provides many Ottawa students the opportunity to learn about different subjects related to Japan. This program is usually offered in-person either at the Embassy of Japan or in classroom. However, for measures for COVID-19, it has been offered virtually via Zoom – you can find details of the program here.
