Chef Fujii showcases Japanese cuisine at International Food Fair 2015
On October 29th 2015, Mr. Ichiro Fujii, Ambassador Monji’s official executive Chef, prepared and served Japanese cuisine at the International Food Fair 2015 which was held at the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development.
Hosted by the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development as part of its annual workplace charitable campaign, the event allows Embassies and High Commissions based in Ottawa to showcase their national cuisine. This year, about 400 participants, including Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development staff and senior managers attended this lively event.
The Embassy of Japan offered assorted sushi prepared by Chef Fujii. Since Washoku (Japanese cuisine) was recognized as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage in December 2013, the Embassy of Japan has sought to introduce and promote Japanese cuisine in Canada. The sushi that Chef Fujii prepared for this occasion was very much appreciated by participants.
