Ambassador Monji attends the 2015 Canada Gairdner Awards Dinner

 

On October 29, Ambassador and Mrs. Monji attended the 2015 Canada Gairdner Awards Dinner, which was held at the Royal Ontario Museum.

 

The Canada Gairdner Awards are awarded annually to scientists who have made prominent accomplishments in medicine or medical science.  This year, seven scientists from five countries; Canada, United States of America, United Kingdom, Switzerland and Japan received the Awards. For Japan, two scientists; Dr. Yoshinori Ohsumi, Honorary Professor, Tokyo Institute of Technology, and Dr. Shimon Sakaguchi, Distinguished Professor, Osaka University, received the Canada Gairdner International Awards. They attended the dinner with their wives.

 

Ambassador Monji presented the Awards to the two Japanese laureates, with Dr. Lorne Tyrrell, Chair, Gairdner Board of Directors, and Dr. John Dirks, President, Gairdner Foundation.
