Carleton University Japanese Association (CUJA) Japan Festival

On Saturday March 19th, the Carleton University Japanese Association (CUJA), in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan, hosted its annual Japan Festival at Carleton University. The Japan Festival aims to showcase the multiple facets of Japanese culture to the Ottawa public.

The opening remarks were given by CUJA President Ms. Mana Murata, CUJA Executive Mr. Kenji Misawa, Ottawa Japanese Community Association (OJCA) representative Ms. Sachiko Okuda and H.E. Ambassador Monji. Ambassador Monji expressed his deep appreciation of the strong community of people engaged with Japan in the National Capital Region, as demonstrated by around 300 people in attendance.

The public had the opportunity to discover various aspects of Japanese culture through a variety of performances and workshops. Mr. Ichiro Fujii, the Japanese Ambassador’s chef, gave a lecture on how to make sushi rolls to several enthusiastic participants.

Dr. Kovalio, Associate Professor at Carleton University’s Department of History, and CUJA President Ms. Mana Murata thanked all the participants for a successful event which will contribute to strengthening the ties between Canada and Japan.
