Lecture: Women in the Workplace over Three Decades – What Must be done for Changes in Japan
On September 28th, 2016, Ms. Midori Nishiura, President and CEO of Amadeus Inc. and visiting professor at Ochanomizu University, gave a lecture at Carleton University, hosted by the Pauline Jewett Institute of Women’s and Gender Studies, in association with the Embassy of Japan. The title of the talk was ‘Women in the Workplace over Three Decades – What Must be done for Changes in Japan.’
The talk was attended by gender studies students and members of the public. Ms. Nishiura gave an overview of the changing role of women in Japanese society by relating her own experiences. Following the talk there was a question and answer period in which participants raised questions regarding systematic, cultural, and structural issues facing women in Japan today.
