Ship for World Youth Information Session

On August 5th, the Embassy of Japan hosted an information session on the Ship for World Youth Leaders Programme.

Embassy representative, First Secretary Eiichi Yokota opened the session.

Members of the Ship for World Youth Alumni Association (SWYAA) further explained the programme, which is a unique cross-cultural experience aboard a Japanese cruise ship. They explained the application procedure and that the selection committee is looking for a wide range of people with different backgrounds. Their advice to applicants was to spend time thinking about how best to present themselves in an appealing way as well as showing what they can bring to the programme.

Participants in the session heard about the SWYAA member’s own experiences of the Ship for World Youth. The also had a chance to ask questions and mingle with the SWYAA members after the session.

12 young Canadians will be selected to join over 200 other young leaders aboard the Nippon Maru, which will sail from Japan to Fiji and New Zealand in early 2017. Applications for Participating Youth positions close on September 1st, 2016. More information and application forms can be found here:  http://swycanada.org/
