Exhibition of a Japan Booth at the Vesak Day in Ottawa and Asian Heritage festival

The Embassy of Japan hosted a booth to promote Japan as a tourism and cultural destination at the Vesak Day in Ottawa and Asian Heritage festival, which was held on May 7th at Ottawa City Hall. Vesak Day is a Buddhism festival commemorating the birth of Buddha. The event in Ottawa featured Buddhist priests who gathered in Canada’s capital city from other parts of the country and abroad, a variety of performances by participating organizations, and booths set up by Asian communities and diplomatic corps.

At the Japan booth, Embassy staff provided tourism information with brochures and broadcast a Japanese tourism DVD. Visitors were also offered Japanese tea, and enjoyed Origami demonstrations. Some asked specific questions about visiting Japan, while others showed a keen interest in Japanese culture such as Japanese tea and Origami.
