Farewell reception for Ambassador Monji and Mrs. Monji

 

On October 19, Ambassador Kenjiro Monji and Mrs. Monji hosted their farewell reception at their residence prior to their departure from Canada on October 27.

Approximately 230 guests attended the reception from a variety of fields including Canadian federal dignitaries, such as The Honourable Victor Oh, Senator, Vice-Chair of the Canada-Japan Inter-Parliamentary Group, as well as federal government officials, heads of diplomatic missions, representatives from the Japanese Canadian community, academia, cultural groups, media and businesses.

The guests, bidding farewell to Ambassador Monji and Mrs. Monji, enjoyed many kinds of fine sake, selected by Ambassador Monji who has the title of Sake Samurai, as well as Japanese food, such as sushi and tempura.

At the reception, a message card titled, “Thank you Canada!” from Ambassador Monji and Mrs. Monji was distributed to the guests.
